Jingdezhen, China
Ming Dynasty, Tianqi Period (1620-1627)
Thickly potted, taking the form of a low coopered wooden basin decorated with a landscape with mountains amongst clouds to the interior and scrolling peonies to the exterior with a relief horizontal blue line cutting through the exterior decoration, the base unglazed. 7.5cm high, 23cm diameter. Together with a fitted lacquer lid for use as a mizusashi, and an early Japanese wooden box and fitted lacquer lid. Cat 115.

Condition report (carefully viewed under UV, strong light and magnification): fritting to the rim, and glaze crackle to one small area of the interior, otherwise in perfect condition.
