31. Hexagonal kashibachi with waterscape designs

Jingdezhen, China

Ming Dynasty, Tianqi Period (1620-1627)

Thickly potted in hexagonal section, decorated with a pair of figures by a lakeside to the interior, lotus, willow tree and boats to the wide rim, and sprays of orchids to the underside.  5.5cm high, 20.5cm diameter.  Together with an old Japanese wooden box.  Cat. 364

Condition report (carefully viewed under UV, strong light and magnification): extensive fritting around the outer rim and the inner edge between the cavetto and flaring rim (production/firing flaws).
