29. Square kashibachi with waterscape design

Jingdezhen, China

Ming Dynasty, Tianqi Period (1620-1627)

Thickly potted in square section with indented corners, minimally but very finely decorated to the interior with a waterscape with figures on an island to the foreground, a boat to the middle, and a pavilion and mountain to the background, and with small landscape vignettes to the underside surrounding the foot.  5cm high, 17cm wide.  Together with a Japanese wooden box.  Cat. 363

Condition report (carefully viewed under UV, strong light and magnification): fritting around the rim, minor scattered kiln grit to the interior, warped rim (production/firing flaws).
