23. Kogo with design of minogame amongst waves

Of ovoid form, finely decorated in underglaze blue with a minogame to the lid, and waves around the side of the base. 2.8cm high, 2.2cm diameter. Together with an early silk shifuku (fitted silk pouch) and an early Japanese wooden box. Cat. 136
Note: A minogame is a mythical turtle said to live for a thousand years, so long that it develops a tail made of algae, and is a symbol of longevity.
Condition report (carefully viewed under UV, strong light and magnification): very short and fine firing crack to the inner edge of the rim of the base, not extending to the external surface (kiln/firing flaw). Small chip to the inner edge of the inner lip of the lid.
