Jingdezhen, China
Ming Dynasty, Tianqi Period (1620-1627)
The centre decorated with two reserves each containing two characters against a solid blue ground with horizontal lines, the rim decorated with groups of two and three brushes, the inscription reading bi deng gao ti translating to 'writing reaches the highest rank'. 2.5cm high, 13.3cm diameter. Together with a Japanese wooden box. Cat. 678
