AA&ADA Fair Melbourne 1-4 May 2025

I am delighted to invite you to join Carl Wantrup Asian Art at the upcoming AA&ADA Fair, held at the Malvern Town Hall, Melbourne, from 1–4 May 2025.

I will be exhibiting a diverse collection of Asian art, including:

• Japanese studio ceramics and historical tea ceremony wares

• Japanese paintings, lacquer and bronzes

• Chinese ceramics and scholar art

• Korean ceramics

• Other selected works of art

In addition to the exhibition, I am honoured to host Scott Soshin, a respected Tea Master of the Urasenke tradition, who will present tea ceremony and tastings at 1:30pm each day, 2–4 May. These intimate sessions will offer a rare glimpse into the cultural and spiritual world of chanoyu, the Japanese way of tea, with the ability to taste Scott’s delicious and high quality ceremonial grade matcha.  Scott Soshin’s exclusive brand of matcha powder (Soshin Tea) will also be available to purchase at the events. And of course there will be a selection of tea bowls for sale at my stand.

About Scott Soshin:

Scott is a Tea Master of the Urasenke school, a lineage dating back to the 15th century. His tea name, Soshin(宗真)meaning “truth/sincerity,” was bestowed by Sen Soshitsu XV, the Grand Tea Master of Urasenke.

Scott lived in Kyoto for 15 years, deeply immersing himself in the roots of tea culture and its Zen Buddhist influences. Today, he teaches chado across universities, community centres, and private events, bringing the timeless practice into modern life.
